Employee Spotlight: Courtney Haggart

By October 31, 20193 min read

Say hello to Courtney Haggart, our content and client specialist! Courtney has been with the Social Assurance team for just over a year and was very excited to be featured as our October/Halloween spotlight. Learn more about her below!

What do you love about Halloween?

“Halloween is tied with the Fourth of July as my favorite holiday! Some of my happiest memories are from trick or treating with my family and friends and doing the fun fall activities at school. I like seeing the creativity in costumes people choose to wear every year. I am also an avid seasonal decorator, so you can imagine how great it is to have my home completely decked out in cobwebs, skulls and pumpkins!”

What’s your favorite social media channel?

“Twitter because it’s a more casual platform than the others. On Twitter, you can be your real self and I enjoy that.”

What’s a fun fact about you?

I didn’t learn how to parallel park until I was 22. “

What’s your earliest memory of banking?

“When I was about seven, my mom took me to a bank down the street from her office to start my first checking account. Over that year, I had collected around $80 from chores around the house (which was a lot). She made me give my money to the teller to keep it safe. I remember being upset because I thought that I had just given my money away and would never see it again!“

What is your role at Social Assurance and what do you like most about your job?

“On the client side, I manage a set of our accounts and work with clients on their daily requests and questions. On the content side, I write social media posts for various clients and work on campaign creation to drive traffic and engagement to our financial brands’ social pages. I never know what to expect coming into the office. Some days, I’m answering emails while others I’m getting recruited to create a TikTok for a webinar or line dancing for a promotional video.”

How do you stay up on current trends in the marketing and social media world?

“I stay active on trends by regularly using almost all social media platforms. I think there are a lot of crossovers on platforms like Twitter/TIkTok/Instagram that people don’t realize, so I want to have a front row seat in as many sites as possible. Popular trends on one site typically are just a copy/crossover of another, so I think it helps my company get a jump start by knowing new and emerging trends before they reach a second platform.”

What are you passionate about?

“Ever since I graduated college, I’ve realized that while I have a degree, there’s still a lot that I don’t know about the world. For example, I started studying U.S. geography after it was brought to my attention that my knowledge of the placement of the East Coast was very lacking. I’m also learning more about beer and have been going to different breweries in various states, which I have to say is a lot more fun than geography.”

What do you think will be the biggest marketing or social media trend to hit the financial industry in 2020?

“Instagram and video-based content. Since you can connect your Facebook page to Instagram now, it’s never been easier to have a presence on both platforms. Videos also get much more engagement than any other media, so I think we’ll be seeing much more of that in 2020.”
