What Does This Mean?
After January 1, 2020, users may experience partial loss of functionality within our products if they do not switch to another browser besides Internet Explorer. On or before May 1st* 2021, Social Assurance applications will not be supported with these browsers at all.
Why Are We Doing This?
There are two factors driving our decision. First, Microsoft has already stopped supporting many of their own features and products in IE 11 and they set a trend for the industry. In addition, Internet Explorer has not received any major updates in terms of security, or functionality, since July 2015 and could pose risk to some users.
Social Assurance wants to provide the best tools for financial brands to use, and we are quite excited about our roadmap for 2021. Many of these features would not be possible or significantly diminished without this migration away from IE 11.
You may have internal tools or products that must still be used with IE11. Microsoft has developed a feature with the newest version of their new Edge browser, called Internet Explorer mode, where you can use a single browser to work with your internal tools that require Internet Explorer 11.
What Do I Need to Do?
Update your browser to a newer version of Edge, Firefox, or Google Chrome. For help with this project, you can work with our engineers to get a timeline in front of your IT department. We’re committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible for you.
Who should I contact if I need help or have questions?
Please contact matt@socialassurance.com with any additional questions.
*We initially said end of August in this blog post but circumstances have lead us to need to move this timetable up and are now expecting that our products will discontinue support for IE11 on May 1st.
